Why Small Group Training may just be for you!
Jul 29, 2023What type of exercise environment is right for you?
I get it it can be very disheartening when you are starting! To do 1-1 Personal Training, join a small group, a bootcamp or large group training or go into a franchise style gym where classes are designed generically and not much techqnique queing or individualised training is offered!
After working and joining all of the fitness spaces like small home based gyms, small boutique gyms to HUGE franchise gyms like Fitness First, Anytime Fitness and F45 gyms, I get it - there is so much out there but which one will truly give you what you need. When there are other lifestyle factors to think about especially the demands on physical and mental loads of being a mother, we need an environment that the workouts lifts us up not completely depletes us and we have nothing in the tank left - enter the comment I have had in the past "I need somewhere I am safe and I can still "mother" aka after not being able to walk for days on end let alone picking up her child after a big franchise gym didn't provide what she needed. I have had clients to come to me after their gym didn't listen to them putting them in harms way and we have had several injuries and surgeries from clients who began their journey with us after injuries sustained elsewhere.
Here's what we offer:
Motivation and Accountability
Exercising in a small group setting can provide a strong sense of camaraderie and support. The shared goals and encouragement from fellow participants can help keep individuals motivated and accountable to their fitness routines.
Social Interaction
Regular social interaction is essential for mental well-being, and small group fitness classes provide an opportunity to meet new people, make friends, and build a supportive network. This social aspect can make exercise more enjoyable and increase adherence to a fitness program.
Varied with progressive overload Workouts
Small group fitness classes often offer a variety of workouts, such as strength training, cardiovascular exercises, flexibility training, and functional movements. This diversity helps to improve overall fitness levels, prevent boredom, and reduce the risk of overuse injuries.
Adaptability to Individual Needs
While group classes have a general structure, good instructors can modify exercises and provide alternative options to accommodate different fitness levels, abilities, and any pre-existing conditions or injuries. This adaptability ensures that participants can safely and effectively engage in the workouts.
Skill Development
Small group fitness classes can provide an opportunity to learn new skills or improve existing ones. Whether it's mastering proper lifting techniques, refining yoga poses, or enhancing cardiovascular endurance, the guidance from knowledgeable instructors can help individuals progress and achieve their fitness goals.
Cost-Effective
Small group fitness classes are more affordable compared to one-on-one personal training sessions. This makes them a cost-effective option for individuals who want personalised attention and guidance without the higher expense.
Fun and Enjoyable
Exercising in a small group setting can be fun and enjoyable. The energy, positive atmosphere, and collective enthusiasm can make workouts feel less like a chore and more like an engaging social experience, leading to greater adherence and long-term success.
