Two main culprits often contribute to discomfort during pregnancy.

  1. De Quervain's Tenosynovitis. Inflammation of the tendons on the thumb side of your wrist. This can make lifting, grasping, and even turning your wrist painful.
  2. Carpal Tunnel Syndrome. This occurs when the median nerve, which runs through a narrow passageway in your wrist (the carpal tunnel), gets compressed.

What Helps Wrist Pain During Pregnancy?

  1. Rest: Avoid overusing your wrists and take breaks throughout the day.

  2. Ice: Apply ice packs for 15-20 minutes at a time, several times a day.

  3. Splints: Wear a splint to support your wrist and limit movement.

  4. Gentle stretches: Consult a physiotherapist for safe and effective stretches.
